Be prepared. Have materials with you and know due dates.
Be a polite and positive participant. Speak in a normal tone of voice, and listen attentively.
Be productive. Turn in work on time and always do your best.
Be a problem solver. Correct problems quickly and peacefully before they escalate.
Do I have to come to class?
YES! Daily attendance is strongly encouraged and necessary for success. We will be participating in many hands-on group activities and your group members depend on your valuable input, ideas and participation.
Makeup Work
When you are absent, you will need to check the folder for the work you missed. It is your responsibility to complete this work and turn it in. You will receive a zero for all missed work until it is completed and turned in. You have one day to makeup the work for each day you were absent. Tests will also receive a zero until it is taken.
What do I need to bring to class?
Materials: Notebook paper, sharpened pencils, blue or black ink pens, post-it notes, index cards, highlighter, colored pencils, ear buds and expo marker.
Okay, so I’m here. What do I do first?
At the beginning of each class you will need to write down any upcoming important information such as test dates, homework, field trips, assemblies, etc. You will also sharpen pencils, get out your supplies, put away jackets/backpacks, turn in assignments and begin the bell work listed on the board. You will not come to class unprepared.
Label your papers!
(You work too hard to give "Nobody" your grade!)
All of your papers must have the RIGHT hand side of the paper labeled as follows:
1. First and Last Name
2. Period #
3. Date
Each class period has an assigned drawer for the collection of assignments. It is your responsibility to turn in assignments to the correct drawer before leaving class.
How will I be graded?
You will be measured in a variety of ways to ensure mastery of our learning goals. Even though percentages vary, each type of assessment should be treated as equally important. Assignments are never given as busy work. Each assignment is given for a specific reason to build a required skill or increase your knowledge base. Treat each assignment as it is the most important thing you are working on!
Each assignment will reflect a benchmark. You will have a classwork grade and a progress check for each benchmark. Unit tests will be over several benchmarks. The progress checks and assessments are not low level questions just recalling information. You will have to apply what you know. This is in preparation for the EOC exam.
Grading Scale:
A: 90-100 Excellent Progress
B: 80-89 Above Average Progress
C: 70-79 Average Progress
D: 60-69 Below Average Progress
F: 01-59 Failure
I: 0 Incomplete/Not Complete/Not turned in/No Name on Paper
(A grade of a “0” indicates the work was never received or was not finished and can not be graded.)
Can I turn in late work?
You must turn in all of your work! Late work will receive partial credit. Some items require completion within a certain time period and once the window of opportunity is closed, it doesn't open again.
Are there extra credit opportunities?
No and do not ask for any extra credit especially if you have not given 100% to your existing assignments. Extra opportunities for improvement are given, but you have to work for it. You also have the opportunity to re-take exams for a better grade after completing an assignment to strengthen the weak area. Re-takes for improvement will be made on your time either before or after school…not during class time and you will not receive higher than a 70 for retakes.

What do I do if I have to leave the class?
You can not leave class without a hall pass and you must sign the log before leaving. Your cell phone must also be left on my desk when you leave the room. Restroom breaks need to be taken before entering class. Do not come into class, put your backpack down and then try to go to the restroom. You will be tardy. It is also a school rule that you are not allowed to leave the classroom during the first ten minutes of class or the last ten minutes.
